Before you start! Ps2 lasers are pretty poor quality. Burning your backups on high quality discs will help the life of your laser. Poor quality disc will not only ruin your laser in the long term, but most, if not all your games will not work. Please check this forum for some great info on DVD media

[edit] Getting started

  1. Insert the Memor32 into your PS2 memory card slot (take any games out before you do)
  2. Go into the PS2 browser and format the memory card (it should be unformatted)
  3. Connect your Memor32 up to your computer via a usb cable. The memory card will NOT appear as a usb hardrive, even though it will make that nice USB sound :)
  4. Your Operating system will probably not be able to install the drivers so you will need to manually download them for your OS here, or if you have Windows 2000 and above, you can just click here and we have mirrored the 2MB download here. If you want to alternative way to install it check out Brakkens guide on iso420
  5. Download the latest firmware zip file from Memento's website (currently only 1.1 aussie version will work on Australian PS2s). Or if you have an Aussie PS2. Download this file here.
  6. Extract the contents. There should be 4 files or so.
  7. One of them is MementoFW_11AUS.exe click on it and it should pop up with a little screen.Image:flashmemento.JPG
  8. Click update, and it will sit there for 10~30 seconds or so while it dumps the firmware on the Memor32
  9. Your Memor32 is now ready to go

[edit] Using it for the first time

  1. Insert the hacked memor32 in the ps2 mem card slot before you turn your PS2 on
  2. Turn on Ps2
  3. Insert the game you have patched, and play!

[edit] Issues?

  1. When you open the Firmware program to update the memor32, make sure you don't have any programs hogging the drivers, i.e. Save Game Manager.
  2. Ps2 lasers are pretty poor quality. Burning your backups on high quality discs will help the life of your laser. DVD-R Verbatiums are our choice. Please check this forum for some great info on DVD media
  3. Some games just don't work yet, check this page out for compatibility from memor users http://www.alex3305.nl/memento.html
  4. To increase the compatibility you might want to try ESR patcher, instead of mementos patcher, Download here
  5. Got a dual layer game? download ToxicDualLayerPatcher to patch the game before applying the memento patch.
  6. Is your PS2 saying "This disc cannot be played due to regional restrictions". We are unsure why this happens on some PS2s, but the fix is to insert the game, then reset your PS2 with the game in there.
